Frequently Asked Questions

How do I drop a marker?
Long press on the chart at the location where you want to place a marker. A marker form will appear so you can name it, choose an icon, and add notes.
How do I toggle chart layers?
Use the layer button to show or hide NOAA charts and bathymetry contours independently. Each layer can be toggled on or off based on your preference.
Does the app work offline?
Charts cache automatically for recently viewed areas, so you can access them without a connection. Full offline support with downloadable chart regions is coming in a future update.
What charts does FishHogs use?
FishHogs displays NOAA ENC (Electronic Navigational Chart) data for US coastal waters and the Great Lakes. Chart data is provided for general reference only and is not a substitute for official nautical charts.
Is my location data shared?
Your GPS location is processed on your device to show your position on the chart. FishHogs does not store or transmit your location to our servers. Our ad provider (Google AdMob) may access approximate location to serve relevant ads — you can control this through the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS or your ad settings on Android. See our privacy policy for details.
How do I import markers from other apps?
Most chartplotters and fishing apps let you select markers, then share or export them as a GPX file. In FishHogs, open the Markers page and tap the import button to load a GPX file. Your imported markers will appear on the chart immediately. To export your FishHogs markers, use the export button on the same page. Note: some apps, like the Navionics Boating app, do not include marker details in their GPX exports — those markers will be imported with a default pin icon.
How do I report a bug?
Use the feedback option in the app to report bugs. Include your device model, operating system version, and steps to reproduce the issue. Screenshots or screen recordings are helpful.
